April 10, 2025 marks yet another devastating day aviation safety. A Bell 206-L4 sightseeing helicopter disintegrated in flight into the Hudson River, resulting of the loss of all souls aboard. This included a family visiting from Spain and their three children.
The helicopter was operated by New York Helicopter Charter, Inc. and was owned by Meridian Helicopters. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has suspended New York Helicopter’s air carrier certificate, and the company has ceased all operations. Interestingly,
The accident helicopter, N216MH, was manufactured in 2004. Careful investigation into the history of this particular helicopter’s maintenance, the condition of the rotors, how it was stored, the conditions it was operated in, and what parts were replaced must be accomplished to understand what resulted in this tragedy. Devers Miska Law has significant experience with this model and similar model helicopters and will be closely monitoring future developments. We extend our deepest condolences to all on board who lost their lives and are happy to answer questions about this accident.
